Because sometimes you need to take three steps (or decades) back to move one step forward (or just get through that goddamn day).
Set the pace. Stay at peace.
Chocolate Block (PRL style)
(aka creatio ex nihilo – because a Pole just can)
Ingredients:
- ¾ cup sugar
- 200 g unslted butter
- ½ cup 2% milk
- 5 Tbs unsweetened cocoa
- 2 cups powdered milk
- 2 packages of Petit Beurre biscuits (100 g each)
- a generous handful of delicacies: raisins, almonds, dried cranberries, dried cherries (or any mix of dried fruits and nuts of your choice)
- a drop or two of orange aroma to make the block taste more fancy (optional, because – let’s be honest – the block is scrumptious but will never ever be anything close to fancy)
Preparation:
1. Melt butter in a small pan.
2. Add sugar and cook it until dissolved. Add milk and cocoa. Mix well. Cool it a little bit. If using the aroma, here’s when you add it to the mass.
3. Add powdered milk, crumbled biscuits and delicacies into a big bowl. Mix thoroughly. Combine with the butter mixture, mix really well and pour the mass into a small loaf pan (approx. 25 x 12 cm) lined with a clingfilm or parchment paper.
4. Cool in the fridge for at least 3 hours (preferably overnight). Serve thinly sliced as too much of this goodness will simply make you nauseous.
